The first home we purchased together in Portland was a fixer—and we renovated it, sold it, and quickly realized how much we loved the process. Nearly 30 years of marriage later, we’ve found ourselves doing some version of it with almost every home we’ve lived in since.

We’ve always loved seeing what a property could be. Allison brings the creative vision and an eye for uncovering the character worth preserving, while Derrick is happiest figuring out how to actually build it, fix it, or make it work. Together, we’ve developed a shared passion for taking homes with good bones and reimagining them for the way people want to live today—without stripping away the things that made them interesting in the first place.

That passion has taken us from homes in Portland, to our High Desert Tumalo Ranch in Bend, Oregon, and most recently to the Sixth Street Bungalow in Columbia, Tennessee. Each property has been completely different, but the challenge is always what draws us in: finding the potential others might overlook and figuring out how thoughtful design, renovation, and a little ingenuity can bring it forward.

What began with our own homes has naturally become another part of Clouz Houz—and one we’re excited to continue growing. We’re always keeping an eye out for the next property with a story to tell.

Real estate and renovation have been part of our story since the very beginning.
